A Heartfelt Family Photo Session in Scarborough, Maine
There’s something truly special about photographing a family in the place they hold near and dear to their hearts. This fall, I had the joy of capturing Amanda, Josh, and their two adorable kiddos, Ruby and Oscar, for a session in their backyard in Scarborough, Maine.
This session was one for the books! The simplicity of their home allowed for the most heartfelt, genuine moments. The kids pulled out their sidewalk chalk, filling the afternoon with creativity and laughter. Some of my favorite images from the day came from watching Ruby and Oscar interact—completely in their element, playing, giggling, and embracing the everyday magic of childhood.
One of the sweetest parts of the session was when Mom and Dad surprised the kids with popsicles. Their faces lit up with pure joy over such a simple treat, making for some of the most candid and memorable moments. It’s these small, seemingly ordinary experiences that hold so much meaning when captured in photographs.
The snuggles, the laughter, and the way Amanda and Josh looked at their children with so much love—it was truly an honor to document. Sessions like these remind me why I do what I do: to freeze these fleeting moments in childhood, preserving them for families to cherish forever.
There’s something incredibly magical about capturing a family in their own space, where they play, laugh, and grow together every day. I’m so grateful to Amanda, Josh, Ruby, and Oscar for inviting me into their world and allowing me to document their love in such a beautiful, authentic way.
